momentarysilence asked:
I was wondering if your employer is supposed to take out federal and state taxes or if it is optional, I’m pretty sure that they are supposed to by law. I got my pay check on Wednesday and they didn’t take out federal or state taxes on it.
I work for Applebee’s and my check for the training and the week afterwards was only $102.68. I asked a friend of mine and she said that the reason they didn’t take out any state or federal taxes could be because I didn’t make enough. Could that be the reason?

I can’t seem to find the answer on their FAQ page. I received my State Taxes within days but am still waiting for my Federal Taxes, which I need to pay my tuition. How long do you think it takes to get them if they were filed electronically and are being directly deposited?

How do I find out if I owe Federal or State taxes? Is there a website for Wisconsin or Louisiana, and the IRS? I want to make sure that I don’t have any outstanding taxes due to me filling my own taxes.

alecs0 asked: For example company A has offices in many states, they request services from a small company B in state zzz. How are taxes calculated on the invoice?
Are they done based on company’s zzz location, or on the state in which Company A has requested the service on, or Company A chooses from which branch to pay from, to get the cheapest Tax rates ?
If anybody has any useful info, please assist.

The “L” Word asked:
If one is awarded money as a result of a legal settlement, do I need to pay federal (and/or state taxes) on the money earned from such a settlement? The settlement was a result of a grievance filed for employment discrimination and wrongful termination.

Sterling J asked:
I converted a Traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. The federal taxes were withheld – all is well with that (I think). The state taxes were not withheld. Now I owe the state a bunch of money. Can I take the owed amount (or less) from the Roth IRA to pay the taxes due without incurring penalties, etc? Would this be considered a “premature withdrawal”?
