Capt Kirk asked: I’m a one-person consulting company in the US. I performed consulting work for a company in Germany, all done remotely. They direct deposited to my business bank account in the US once the work was completed. Do I pay federal taxes on that income? I assume yes, but is it treated any different from if that company was in the US?
Also, how in the heck do I figure out the amount of federal tax on my income? The FICA, etc., etc.? I have the IRS booklet on it, but I can’t figure it out. Thank you!

I should clarify that I’m talking about taxes for an S-type corporation, not individual.

Does anybody know how far back(in years) you can file your taxes, that is, if you are owed a refund? And is the tax deadline of April 15 only apply if you owe taxes to the government?

I am starting a new job tomorrow, and my old employer asked me to consult. How do I pay taxes and social security as a consultant when my new employer will already be paying taxes for me through payroll?

I found out in 2007, that I owed the state of CT property taxes from 2003 for my vehicle (yes, CT taxes vehicles as a property tax paid directly to the individual towns). I only lived there for 6 months, thus not knowing about the tax and it was never forwarded to me. Can I claim this as a 2007 property tax deduction, or do I have to refile 2003?

I have always had my brother-in-law do my taxes. I was wondering how hard it is to prepare taxes. I own my house and have 2 kids, 1 of which is getting social security. I’m just wondering if I could do them myself. What software or website is the easiest to use?

I am 24 and am just now going to start college. I will be working several little jobs here and there babysitting and cleaning. I am not sure how I should claim this for taxes. I have not been claiming taxes but want to start doing it because I don’t want to get in trouble later. How should I keep track and file for this?

Face reality the rich will always have tax loopholes. These people make big contributions to get people elected, they are not going to bear the brunt of a tax increase. Congress already has special laws to shelter themselves from taxes.
So how much do you want YOUR TAXES to increase? Do not tell me about anyone else just yourself.
Anytime some supports a tax increase it is always for someone else. I want people to answer how much you want your taxes raised.
ydtnkydknw you do not make that much, but please feel free to send in 90% of you wages to the government.
