A friend want me to deposit his company’s checks into my own bank account. My friend will pay me for the service. I am being told that taxes have already been paid on the money. I am concerned that he is trying to avoid something but I do not know what it could be. My friend lives in England and the money will be coming in Bank and Traveler’s Checks. I do not want to be stuck with taxes on this money.
Will my friends lives in the uk he said that i would be the only employee in the us.
and he will contact all his contacts in the us to send me the payments for his company, once the checks get cleared in my bank i keep a fee and send him the rest.

I want to buy and sell stocks on a daily basis, but the people I’ve talked to said that taxes were to complicated to sell and buy daily. Is there a easy way to do taxes correctly?

I earned about $5k for 2007.
I had my employer withhold max amount of taxes for me.
If I were to file taxes, how much refund can I receive? I heard if you earn below certain amount, you get back most of your taxes.
I am a student, my parents claimed me as a dependent. Does that affect the claim?

I am a single professional with income over $100 K (28% tax rate) & receiving a bonus payout this year. After paying taxes on my bonus, I want to be able to save the remainder in some vehicle for future down payment on my first home (possibly 6-9 months down the road) without incurring a larger tax penalty. Would a Roth or Coverdell IRA help me? Or is there another vehicle better suited for my purposes?

After 20 years in the Military moving from state to state and country to country and after working overseas as a civilian for the last 10 years were ready to settle down and retire. We are now looking for a state to retire to that has low property taxes, not too cold of a climate, reasonably price homes, low crime and a city no larger than 500,000 people. We do not have any kids in school so the school system is not important to us. We lived in Texas and the property taxes are high, also lived in Georgia where the property taxes are not to bad. If we had a $250,000 home in your area what would the property taxes be?

She died 12/11/06. Income was from Social Security, retirement, and an annuity. I did her taxes online for her for the last few years and she always got a refund (about $2000). Would like to file taxes and add the refund to her estate – is that allowable? Do I just file electronically as in the past?
